Danielle was one of the first people I met when I started working at ModCloth. I was lucky enough to get to work with her a lot in the 3 years I was there. She was also my boss for about a year and was by far the best boss I have ever had. I have always looked up to her, she has taught me so much. She is now the Photo Director of ModCloth, and I cannot think of anyone who would be better at this position than her. Needless to say, photographing her wedding meant a lot to me.
The day before the wedding we did a quick engagement session/venue walk thru with them the day before so we could finalize the timeline, etc. We took a few photos, explored for a few hours, and had a few drinks. They proceeded to take me to their favorite places in Key West. We started with bloody mary’s at the Schooner Warf (which I pronounced differently each time), headed to Pepe’s for lunch, followed by the Cuban Coffee Queen for an amazing iced coffee.
During our afternoon exploring Key West I got to know Jarret better. I have met Jarret a handful of times, but we never really got to talk much. Jarret has this calming presence about him and is so welcoming. Jarret is a talented bridge designer, but I also learned that he is an avid fly fisherman and leads tours here. Kevin and I are definitely planning on taking one of his tours soon.
The day of the wedding was probably the nicest day we had during our stay in Key West. Everything went incredibly smoothly, and it was such a beautiful day. We started at the Ernest Hemingway house (home of many 6 toed cats) for the ceremony, grabbed some portraits on our way to Capt Tony’s for a quick drink, and on to the Roof Top Cafe for a delicious dinner with their family. The night wasn’t over yet and ended with some amazing karaoke at Two Friends, where I quickly learned that Danielle and her sister are probably the best karaoke singers in the world. Jarret and Danielle sang “Jackson” by Johnny Cash and June Carter. It was such an awesome day, I was thrilled to be a small part of it.
